Hello and welcome! Please understand that this website is not affiliated with Balenciaga in any way, it is only a reference page for collectors and those who have enjoyed the classic fragrances of days gone by.

The main objective of this website is to chronicle the history of the Balenciaga fragrances and showcase the bottles and advertising used throughout the years.

However, one of the other goals of this website is to show the present owners of the Balenciaga perfume company how much we miss the discontinued classics and hopefully, if they see that there is enough interest and demand, they will bring back these fragrances!

Please leave a comment below (for example: of why you liked the fragrance, describe the scent, time period or age you wore it, who gave it to you or what occasion, any specific memories, what it reminded you of, maybe a relative wore it, or you remembered seeing the bottle on their vanity table), who knows, perhaps someone from the current Balenciaga brand might see it.

Michelle by Balenciaga c1979

Michelle by Balenciaga was launched in 1979. Created by Françoise Caron. The perfume was named for one of Balenciaga's premier models. According to the book, The Skin Game: The International Beauty Business Brutally Exposed, "The idea was to tie the perfume to the Beatles song, but the Beatles refused permission."

"Michelle.  A perfume as unique as the fascinating world of Balenciaga , as unique as the woman who wears it."

Fragrance Composition:

So what does it smell like? It is classified as a floral fragrance for women. It begins with an aldehydic fruity top melding coconut, peach and gardenia, followed by an exotic floral heart of rich jasmine, May rose attar and ylang ylang resting on a sweet, sensual base with penetrating tones of green vetiver, pungent spices and precious woods. The effect is heightened by mysterious musk and powdery iris.
  • Top notes: aldehydes, leafy green note, gardenia, coconut, peach
  • Middle notes: gardenia, orchid, tuberose, carnation, jasmine, May rose, ylang ylang, orris
  • Base notes: vetiver, vanilla, sandalwood, oakmoss, civet, benzoin, musk
