Combat, 1954:
"Eau de Balenciaga: between aquamarine mosses, frail lianas cover with a blue shadow, a certain source in the vicinity of which, I sometimes go to pick the tender watercress. Impossible not to think of the sparkling green of this nascent stream, breathing this eau de toilette, frozen at its first puff like mountain mints, but which then leaves on the skin, fine traces of thyme, marjoram, basil and wild thyme, with a background of mossy, woody shade."
Combat, 1955:
"Eau de Balenciaga - Between foams of aquamarine, frail lianas cover with blue shadow a source where, sometimes, I pick the tender watercress. Impossible not to think about it while breathing this eau de toilette which leaves on the skin of messages of thyme, marjoram and basil, with those of a wooded shaded corner."
The Akron Beacon Journal, 1962:
"Balenciaga Parfums is presenting for the first time in the US, "Eau de Balenciaga for Men," four-ounce aerosol spray for men."
Palm Beach Daily News, 1981:
"Diana Vreeland, fashion editor: "There are many perfumes I like. I particularly adore Eau de Balenciaga, which has a dry lavender scent."

Original version was housed in the classic Balenciaga "inkwell" flacon used for parfum, but by 1959, it was housed in the tall, fluted flacon with a black plastic cap.
